Northstar-26 Double Amber/Purple is the more intense version of Northstar Amber/Purple. It produces the most exciting metallic purples and vermilions. It behaves similarly in the flame as regular Amber/Purple but because of its greater intensity more care has to be taken to prevent reduction. Double Amber/Purple can be stretched further and can be blown relatively thin without losing the vibrant purple strike. Be sure to try layering Double Amber/Purple over Northstar Blue Caramel.
Rods are approximately 7mm in diameter and 19 inches long with approximately 10-12 rods per pound
Also Available in size fine (70 mesh) frit in 1 and 4 ounce increments.
Artist description by Roger Child – This color is a more saturated version of amber purple. Work this color in a hot oxidizing flame to develop rich dark shades of purple. Remember to burn off the haze and work it to the white hot stage. It will also develop a milky amber hue when worked in a reducing flame. This color will continue to develop in the kiln as it goes through the annealing process. Layer this color over white to develop rich shades of dark amber, purple and pink.
