If you are Bail or tungsten pick hole-drilling challenged in soft glass or boro this is the tool for you!
- The Bail Biter is a multi-purpose tool that makes it very easy to create loops and holes for pendants, vessels and buttons.
- To make a loop, place a small amount of glass (1/4″ high) shaped like a tiny bead at the desired location. Heat the glass to an orange glow. Quickly place the points of the pliers into the center of the bail glass and squeeze together tightly. As soon as the tips touch, rotate the pliers in an up and down motion in the hole until you hear the glass crackle – this motion breaks apart the glass in the middle of the hole. Remove the pliers and reheat the glass area that makes up the hole, being careful not to melt the hole closed. Use a pick and gentle heat to smooth out and/or enlarge the hole.
- You can use these pliers to create holes in off-mandrel pendants, for even placement of critter eyes, or as a texturing tool. The possibilities are enless. You can even use them as a mandrel balancer if you are a wild spinner.
